Hello and welcome to May, the season of Beltane…

We’ve been through an incredible amount of shifts starting early March when Uranus first entered Aries, asking us in no uncertain terms to wake up and take notice of the world and reality we are living and creating with our thoughts, words and deeds.

As we enter this month, the fiery energy of April is slowly giving way to earthier energy as the planets make their way from Aries to Taurus.

In other words, plans we have been initiating are soon to start taking concrete form. After the initial shock of awakening, this Taurus energy is grounding us in what is important, real, solid and of value.

Expect financial, creative and relationship situations to be of prime focus through the month. The Sun entered Taurus on April 20, soon after the Libra Full Moon with Mars (on May 11th), Mercury and Venus (both on May 16th) to follow. Mercury and Venus travel together throughout the month, (through Aries and then Taurus) making it an excellent month for real heart-to heart communication, financial negotiations and lucrative creative ideas.

It would help if we remembered these aren’t ordinary times we’re living in. With the outer planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in cardinal signs Libra, Aries and Capricorn this is a time of change, as we lay the foundation for a new future and a new world.   [Side Note - I wrote this report around the middle of April, before the tornados hit the US.]

On May 3, 2011 a New Moon in Taurus, ushers us into this fertile new cycle of growth. We will see the first signs of what is developing around the time of the Full Moon, but this New Moon marks the greater cycle of a year. What takes seed now could grow into something larger than life – but be conscious of what you are planting.

Be clear in your intentions and don’t worry about what you will get in return. What matters is how much YOU value something and the effort you are willing to put into it. As you sow, so shall you reap… Also be realistic in your expectations the time it takes for something to manifest into the physical world, be it a fruit or a new life. So it is with abstracts thoughts, dreams, hopes, wishes and relationships.

At the time of the New Moon, there’s a stellium in Aries with Uranus, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars. This feels like a volcano [of passion] waiting to erupt, and I hate to use those words given the nature of things on the planet currently, but that is what the aspects feels like energetically.

But we have to trust even the recent disasters we’ve experienced for all their destruction, are part of a greater unseen plan to bring about the necessary change in the world. The Taurus New Moon’s trine to Pluto in Capricorn suggests we are entering a new world, and in the wake of destruction there can be a resurrection of integrity and discovery of true wealth.   We are learning in no uncertain terms, the Earth is a living breathing entity. And all personal planets in Aries at the time of this lunation, suggest it is each of our actions conscious and unconscious one’s that largely contribute to the well being of the planet. Even the destruction we have faced is clearing the way for something new to take seed.

Mercury is currently now making its third pass through the zodiac in Aries. It’s recent retrograde has been a journey of deep questioning of one’s self and desires, uncovering truths. But now we have another chance to learn from our mistakes. When we know better, we do better. And with it’s close conjunction to Venus through the month communication can get a lot sweeter and clearer.

Taurus is the sign that represents physical energy, one’s body, income and possessions, as well as one’s deepest commitments. The days just before the New Moon are exceptional for conversations surrounding love and money, as well for initiating creative projects and relationships. Speak and listen from the heart don’t shy away from the truth. But also remember ‘love’ is a verb and often actions speak louder than words.

On May 9, 2011 Mercury-Venus and dwarf planet Eris (who instigated Pluto’s demotion from planetary status) form a conjunction. This may bring a sense of fragmentation of one’s desires or a feeling of perhaps not knowing if it is ok to feel what one feels, or want what we want.   Eris can point to the sense of fragmentation we feel as individuals living in today’s world. There are so many facets to our personality with us having to be different things to different people. Be honest with yourself above all about who you are and what you want. Acknowledge and accept your desires then you can invest in what means the most to you. Love is not selfish, nor does it need anything – it is our natural state of being and its result is an outpouring.

Things get rather heated and passionate again around May 11, when Mars enters Taurus. Jupiter, Venus and Mercury will be in a triple conjunction in Aries at 25+ degrees, with the Leo Moon in a fiery trine. Mars in Taurus can be very hedonistic, sensual, sexual, fertile, creative and a little like the “Energizer bunny.” This along with the triple conjunction in Aries is setting creative, sexual and passionate fires ablaze.

Taurus energy has a quality of inertia to so be caution not get stuck or resist change. But currently all the Aries energy lighting a fuse under Taurus’ determination, which can be an unstoppable bulldozer once it gets going not letting anything stand in its way. Channeled effectively, we can make “real” stuff happen this month.

On May 16, 2011 the Mercury and Venus enter Taurus [under a Scorpio Moon,] just in time for the Scorpio Full Moon on May 17, 2011. Expect the plot to thicken and mystery to deepen, but if we are open to receive, we could ‘inherit the earth’ quite literally.

Mercury, Mars, and Venus will be in a triple conjunction in Taurus at this time forming a trine to Pluto suggesting deep conversations unearthing a potential goldmine. Expect passions to be running high and this could is also revealing deeper feelings and emotions within relationships, and lucrative financial potential.   The Taurus-Scorpio axis is a very physical axis and most represents life on this earthly plane. It also holds the secrets of life, death, manifestation and transcendence within it. Focus not just on the material gain, physical pleasure and shallow desires but the deeper value of something.

Taurus is the sign that represents physical energy, one’s body, income and possessions, as well as one’s deepest commitments. It is also a reminder that everything “material” and will return to dust. And people are not possessions to be owned, but meant to be cherished for the short fleeting time we have here together in the flesh. Relationships, like plants need to be nurtured daily, then can they be strengthened and evolve with the seasons of life. What matters is our commitment to someone or something and how we value it. And a commitment always comes from the inside out.

The Scorpio Full Moon is bringing deep feelings to light asking for surrender and to let go of darker emotions, to reveal eternal unchanging feelings and truth at the core. Financial situations and relationships are changing deeply in a way that can only benefit us. Avoid being resistant to change, the more we can let go of clinging, the greater will be our ability to seize a lucrative opportunity.

The more we resist the changes being asked, the more difficult this process is likely to be. Venus, ruler of Taurus in Taurus at the time of this Full Moon is a reminder that only love is real. Only when we let go past hurts and pain can we begin to appreciate the abundant, fertile, sensual pleasures and reality before us — and it’s very much present. Financially as well, there is no such thing as easy money, but if we are able to shed the ego and work together for a greater cause the tangible benefits will come.

Perhaps the most significant aspect this month comes around the end of May when Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus. This can be rather indulgent energy and is as laden with rich, luscious and fertile possibilities as it gets – financially, romantically and creatively. The next conjunction will not be until 2013 in Aries, making this a rather rare aspect. What we make of it will depend on our ability to recognize the potential in something or someone.

These planets usually conjunct once ever 2 years, but recently since 2008 (the last conjunction before that was in October 2006 in Scorpio) we’ve had a series of Venus-Mars conjunctions in close succession suggesting a situation or relationship that has been in a rapid state of evolution.

Venus-Mars were conjunct in Libra on Sep. 12, 2008, in Aries on April 22, 2009, then on June 21, 2009 in Taurus, on Aug. 21, 2010 in Libra and the most recent one on Oct. 4, 2010 in Scorpio. Look back to these dates and you will see a greater pattern emerging in financial and creative situations, relationships and especially a close personal relationship you share.   Especially look to the time around of Oct. 4, 2010 when Mars and Venus made a conjunction in Scorpio. (Here is a link to a Blog from then.) We were learning deep, dark perhaps painful truths and secrets at that time especially surrounding sexual relationships and financial commitments.

Things were changing deeply back then and we were certainly put in the ring of fire. But as the planets conjunct again in Taurus on May 23, 2011 in theopposite side of the zodiac look at how far you’ve come from six months ago. Scorpio represents transformation and although something was ‘dying’ it was a necessary part of the process of resurrection. Now as the planets conjunct in Taurus, we are learning what is ‘real’ never dies, it only changes and evolves to reveal true form.

The Sun will be in Gemini at this time – with Mercury still in conjunction to the planets suggesting communication is key to building something that lasts. Avoid seeing something in black and white rather stay centered in the truth. We are learning lessons of equality, boundaries and how not to get stuck in the past or the future but stay in the present to make the most of something.

Focus on how you feel about something in your gut, rather than be opinionated and fixed on ‘right’ and ‘wrong.’ We are reaching a 180 degree point from where we were in October 2010 allowing us to see something someone from an opposite and perhaps more realistic perspective. Appreciate what is real and it will give you back.

We will be in Eclipse season at this time, with the New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini on June 1, 2011. Expect situations to intensify at this time and whether one believes in fate or freewill, Eclipses that tend to bring “destined events.” Whether one believes in fate or free will, this is a time when the two are aligned as One making us acutely aware of our higher consciousness.

We can’t control anything in the external world, but with the Sun and Moods alignments to the Nodes in the days and weeks leading up to the event, we have the power to make choices in consciousness setting in motion patterns that take us through at least a six-month period. And indeed as Gemini suggests as well – the only true power one possesses is the power of choice.

With Jupiter entering Taurus early June soon after the Eclipse and transiting through the sign until mid 2012, stay grounded in what is real and you could double the fruits of your efforts simply in awareness.

No doubt it’s been an intense year and it may be almost hard to trust the changes on the horizon as we enter May. But May suggests the opportunities in front of us are real. Where one is willing to commit – in love, art or financial situations, with patience love and hard work we stand to gain tangible and intangible ways.

Taurus teaches us like the earth, life has its seasons. Even winter is necessary for the spring and patience has its rewards…
