Yesterday marked the Aries New Moon, kicking off a new astrological year, a year like few others that we will experience in our lifetimes.
Where in your life is something new birthing? Or does life feel like a wildfire out of control? What are the changes 
you want to initiate?
The energy of this New Moon to me feels like a stick of dynamite with a long fuse. Be patient if things seem to take longer than you would want. Trust that what you are starting now will really take off once both Mercury and Mars station direct in April.
Events unfolding are the warm-up to the real action coming up between June 24 and September 19, 2012 (when Uranus and Pluto make the first two of a series of seven squares between now and 2015) that will bring us to a global, political and extremely personal turning point. With Uranus, what’s coming is unpredictable, so it would be best to surrender your expectations or avoid making too many rigid plans for later in the year.
Significantly, this Aries New Moon occurred at 2+ Aries, at the mid-point of Mercury and Uranus. Last month’s Pisces New Moon, too, was at the mid-point of Neptune and Chiron. If the Pisces New Moon was helping us to focus a vision, then the Aries New Moon now asks that we initiate a plan of action in order to bring a dream to life.
Mid-points in astrology bring a fusion of energies. In this case, Mercury is retrograde, which certainly speaks of the past, and Uranus’ energy is decidedly futuristic. The Sun and Moon, at their mid-point in Aries, is asking us unequivocally to “be” here now. We stand now in the space between the Self we used to be and the person we are becoming.

Today’s New Moon occurred at 2+ Aries at 10:37 AM EDT. I’ve wrote a Blog on the energy surrounding this lunation, but the insights keep pouring in. So I’ll be back with a Blog late Thursday or Friday depending on where in the world you are.
This lunation also marks the start of the astrological new year, and the day after is celebrated as the Hindu New Year, or Gudi Padwa (in Maharashtra) — a very auspicious day to start something new. So a very Happy Gudi Padwa to you.
It is said that Lord Brahma created the Universe on this day. You are the creator of your life. What dream would you like to bring to life?

Dear Friends,
I wanted to bring you a quick update on my schedule — I am traveling to India and fly out this evening. I will be in transit most of today and the next couple of days. If you email me during this time, please be patient as I will get back to you. I will be back on email, writing, working and doing Consultations starting around March 8-9, 2012.
It’s been a stressful week trying to organize my travels. I was supposed to attend a dear cousin’s wedding which I was quite looking forward to and still am, but then my mother had a bad fall a couple of days ago and fractured her arm. She was operated on today and is now recovering in the hospital and I ask for your prayers for a speedy recovery for her.
While I’m here a quick check-in with the Astrology: We are now heading towards the Virgo Full Moon on March 8, 2012 at 4:39 AM EST at 18+ degrees of the sign. Virgo is the sign that rules mind, body, soul and healing on all levels. The energy is certainly mirroring my life at the moment as I am sure it is for many of you.
Also Venus has recently ingressed Taurus, her home sign, after a challenging few weeks of transiting through Aries. I’ll have more to say about this transit, but you can be sure this is helping us ground financial situations and relationships.
I’ll be back with the astrology for the lunation as soon as I can. For now, remember this is a Virgo Full Moon (in a wide conjunction to Mars) — you don’t have to do it all in one day. Don’t sweat the small stuff, get plenty of rest, pay attention to your body as well as your emotional and spiritual well-being and take some time to revel in life’s simpler pleasures.

We are in February now and this is a leap year. Of course this is also the dreaded or celebrated month of Valentine’s day. Personally I have nothing against the day, but then I feel every day should be Valentine’s day. Why wait for one day out of the year to celebrate your love or show someone we love them? In the spirit of Venus in Aries (where she is currently) remember love is an action, behavior and verb, not a noun.
Even so looking at the astrology for Valentine’s day, the Moon will be in Scorpio which is definitely a conduit for deep passionate feelings. If you are with a lover things could easily get hot and heavy. But Scorpio also brings darker energies and emotions to the surface. Work on consciously facing your demons, and letting go of emotional baggage or pain you’ve carried around for way too long. Then there can be true transformation, intimacy and deepening of connections.
On February 13, 2012 Mercury in Aquarius trines Saturn in Libra with both planets at 29+ degrees of the signs. This aspect is offering a chance for deep communication in relationships. A chance to clear the air, reach a solid understanding of a situation and re-addressing a crucial balance of power. Honesty will be key, as will be willingness to listen and most importantly compromise.
On February 14, 2012 Mercury enters Pisces Mercury makes a conjunction to Neptune on February 14, 2012 a sure sign asking us not to get carried away in a fantasy or believe everything we’re told. Although this could get rather poetic on the one hand, there is the shadow side we need to be aware of. Neptune, as mystical, poetic, artistic and magical as its energy can be, can on the shadow side bring an influence of deception, denial, delusion.
Truth is we can’t be lied to unless there is something within us that truly wants us to believe something. The next day, Mercury will also conjunct Chiron, suggesting we confront truth even if it pains us to do so. Only then can there be true healing. Also Jupiter is in Taurus in a sextile to Chiron (and Mercury and Neptune) this is giving us something solid to work with. As much as may there may be a sense of idealism this aspect can give us the necessary grounding needed to work towards making a dream a reality.
Venus squares Pluto the very next day on February 15, 2012, which means the influence will be strongest before then. Anytime Venus-Pluto are in aspect we tend to deal with obsessive emotions, issues surrounding power, control especially in love relationships and financial situations. But squares also represent a turning point, and this aspect is asking for an inner transformation. With Venus in Aries, square Pluto in Capricorn we are likely dealing with issues surrounding our inherent desires versus what we think is expected of us. Or what we truly want (to be happy) vs. how we think we can get it.

We now stand at the gateway between the past and the future, in the ripe moment of now. On Feb. 29, 2012 the Sun in Pisces squares the Nodes, bringing us to the mid-point of two eclipses. This in effect offers a chance for re-orientation, course correction and marks a turning point as we journey forward.
Although the Nodes are hypothetical points and do not have a physical mass, they are the shadow of the Moon suggesting their very personal nature. It the Sun and Moon’s proximity to the Nodes that bring us eclipses twice a year.
The South Node often represents ones latent talents and gifts as well as ones comfort zone, while the North Node tells the story of our becoming, what we are evolving towards. It is through a careful balance of of both that one is able to manifest the greatest potential. Think of the South Node as a stepping stool that we can use to reach for the cookie jar on the top shelf (the North Node) which would otherwise be out of reach.
As the Pisces Sun reaches “North Bending” — a point which according to Mary Plumb of Mountain Astrologer “resembles the north node, a point where energy comes in. The north bending is where events and experiences will manifest in the outer world” there may be developments in situations now that require us to think on our feet while keeping an eye on the big picture (North Node in Sagittarius.)
In some cases it may feel like the floodgates are opening up but naturally this will require a certain amount of courage and faith (in oneself above all) to seize the opportunities arising and walk through a doorway towards greater freedom. Also this will require an ability to go with the flow, take life as it comes. Then as long as we don’t fall asleep at the wheel we can steer clear of that which ultimately does not serve our highest purpose and goals.
