The Moon is now in Pisces, and the Sun has just passed its conjunction to Jupiter in Taurus. I wrote about the aspects today in yesterday’s Blog (here’s the link in case you missed it.)

But just wanted to add a quick update on another important aspect occurring today, as Mercury in Taurus makes an exact trine to Mars in Virgo (in a Grand Trine with Pluto in Capricorn.)

There is an opportunity to have important conversations today. It may require patience but any effort made to communicate is likely to bring a solid understanding of support available, and the steps we can take to bring about the change and progress we need.

Mars will trine Pluto on May 16, 2012, the day after Venus stations retrograde, showing us what we can do to finally move forward from a part of a difficult past.

One’s relationship with one’s mother is a bond that is unique and palpable. Our time in the womb forms the underlying map of our physical, emotional, biological makeup — depending on the mother’s emotional, psychological and physical health.

But motherhood goes beyond just biology — the nurturing, love, caring or lack of in one’s formative years also form the foundation for security in ones life. Ultimately what a child needs is not fancy toys or gadgets, but love. Love is force that sustains this eternal bond.

When looking through the lens of Astrology, the Moon and its placement in the natal chart is a hugely revealing factor in experiences of and relationship with one’s mother, one’s emotional makeup, sense of security and nourishment one received as a child.

Personally, I have my Moon in Taurus conjunct Mercury and Chiron in my 6th House. One of the earliest memories I have of my mother goes back to as early as when I was about 6 months to a year old. I was born knock-kneed and my mother used to massage my legs from the time of my birth up to about 2-3 years of age with Cod liver oil to help strengthen and straighten my bones.

It’s fascinating to relate this with my astrology: the 6th house themes of healing, Taurus represents the body, Chiron the legs, Moon and Mercury – my memory of mother. My mother herself has a Virgo Moon with Uranus in Cancer: she is an out-of-this world cook and its all about a clean kitchen and eating healthy. And of course that’s just a couple of examples, but I can honestly say I owe my health to her.

And speaking of the Moon, we are currently at its Last Quarter Phase. The Moon is in Aquarius exactly square the Taurus as I write this; just one week away from the New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Gemini which will be conjunct the South Node.

People with the Moon conjunct South Node in their chart are generally very deeply attached and karmically linked with their mother. It will be no different for children born during the time of this Eclipse. And with the Gemini Eclipse in a square to Neptune and there can be a deep psychic bond that is shared between mother and child. Mother’s-to-be can just remember to keep clarity on their beliefs and perceptions which will influence their child’s view of the world.

Even for the rest of us, this being the week before the Eclipse especially with the aspects surrounding it now is a time to go deeper to cleanse oneself of false beliefs, fantasies and perception, to gain clarity on a more abundant, reality and truth staring us in the face.

The Sun conjuncts Jupiter tomorrow on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2012. This is certainly a time to give thanks to our mother’s whether here in the flesh or in spirit, for providing us with nourishment but also to make peace with, forgive and heal any wounding. It is also maybe a great day to give thanks to ‘Mother Earth’ and celebrate your appreciation in someway.

Tomorrow could bring opportunities for indulgence, perhaps even extravagance on some scale. Or it may just be an experience of how good life can feel if we really stop to be in the present moment and engage all our senses. If you have the chance get outdoors tomorrow or spend sometime in nature grounding yourself. Or take the time to eat, drink and enjoy good times with good company, family and or with good friends. Pleasure is the word for the day, but it is also teaching us we can take pleasure in all things great and small — not just today but everyday.

Taurus is known for its hedonistic tendencies and Jupiter tends to magnify things. So its really up to you to know when you may have had too much of a good thing. (But then again you you only live once!) Choose your experiences wisely. And you can gain so much more than just sensual pleasure but a deeper sense of gratitude for this life in the flesh and its precious transient moments.

But then we have Venus (ruler of Taurus) coming to a halt before she stations retrograde tomorrow. Venus is the ruler of Taurus and in Gemini, in spite of all the opportunities there may be a sense of feeling divided which can take away from our ability to enjoy reality in the present.

Where you have faith, luck is on your side. Its not about blind optimism, although right now even that could work minor miracles. Anything is possible when you think it is possible. And the Sun-Jupiter conjunction strongly suggests the resources we need are present. We just need to have faith as we explore and reconsider options, to gain a new perspective on an ongoing situation which may hold the key.

This New Moon trined Mars (newly direct) in Virgo and also formed a sextile to Neptune in Pisces. For all that has been so slippery this past month, ground yourself in reality now and there can be healing and steady growth in terms of feeling financially and emotionally secure.

April 2012 through June 20, 2012 – Horoscopes for Mars Direct in Virgo

(Note — I wrote this last night under the Full Moon and made a few edits this morning.)

It’s minutes away from the Libra Full Moon as I write this, and I can see her growing and shining bright from my window in Bandra, Mumbai right now.

This Full Moon occurs at 17+ Libra with the Sun in opposition in Aries asks for self-awareness so we can steady wildly swinging emotions to find inner balance. Aspects surrounding the lunation suggest relationships and financial situations are in focus and under pressure. But there are creative solutions available now that can help stabilize a situation with teamwork and understanding.

Depending on which house Libra occupies in your chart (you can get a free chart at www.astro.com) you will see the action in the part of your life that house represents. For example for Taurus, Libra is the 6th Solar house suggesting relationships with colleagues and people you interact with on a daily basis are highlighted. For Leo, Libra is the 3rd Solar house, relationships with siblings and important conversations are likely on the cards.

Libra is the sign that rules all one-to-one relationships; it’s symbol the scales shows us the vital importance of balance, truth, equality in a relationship. Libra is a Venus ruled air sign — symbolizing a meeting of hearts and minds, or two hearts in harmony, breathing as one.

The Sun is currently in Aries the sign of self, and the challenge right now is finding a balance between one’s needs and another’s. Acknowledge your needs in a relationship and ask yourself what you can do to create and restore balance rather than wait for someone else to do the work. Whether this means taking better care of yourself, or pitching in to share equal responsibility with another.

Also currently there is a Grand Mutable Cross forming in the sky — Juno is conjunct the North Node in Sagittarius, in close opposition to Venus conjunct the South Node who is approaching a square to Mars in Virgo who in turn is in opposition to Neptune in Pisces.

With planets occupying mutable signs this is rather slippery. Mars-Neptune in opposition is definitely asking us to go slow through this month and the Full Moon is no exception. Mars is the ruler of Aries, where the Sun is at this time. So no doubt there is a sense of urgency being felt. But it’s like a huge puddle of water on a slippery floor — no matter how badly you want to get to the other side, if you hurry you will slip and fall. So go slow and don’t be afraid to take your time. Two weeks from now Mars will trine a very fertile Taurus New Moon, suggesting we can finally get some traction and start moving alone a solid path.

Juno in Sagittarius is conjunct the North Node, suggesting honesty, trust, freedom, long distance relationships, are the likely issues we are dealing with in relationships. Whatever it is you most need from another, try to do without it and or find it within and give it to yourself.

Juno astrologically represents the bone of contention within a relationship, or the thing that stands in the way of an otherwise satisfactory relationship. In personal experience and in my experience reading charts, it can become a point of obsession, or a recurring theme in relationships. But when one is able to surrender the “need,” it is often met without struggle.

Meanwhile with Venus approaching a conjunction to the South Node (exact on April 12, 2012), there are a lot of past issues coming up for clearing — both financial as well as in relationships. Consciously release the past as you move forward: let go of memories that haunt you, past communication patterns, ideas about relationships or projecting past relationships on to the present, which prevents you from sharing love freely today.

Once Venus passes the South Node, we’re moving onward and upward. Venus does enter shadow on April 14, 2010 so the conversations, negotiations and commitments you are making then could go through a couple of rounds as Venus returns to this point in the zodiac at the end of June.

Also Venus squares Mars on April 7, 2012 (today) at the time of the Libra Full Moon so lovers quarrels may very well be on the cards, but there can be fun in making up as well. This is a passionate, creative climate, but really what’s needed is honesty with oneself first then we can communicate honestly and get on the same page with others. You may not be able to forget the past, but you can forgive it — for yourself rather than another. Forgiveness is an important step in one’s personal healing journey.

If there is love, then Venus in Gemini suggests we look at a situation or even ourselves through the eyes of someone we love or another, rather than get angry or frustrated when someone refuses to see our point of view. A square always points to an internal resolution and the aspect can bring deep understanding if we are able to see things from another perspective and integrate this understanding in one’s being actions, not just words. Then  as Mars stations direct we can move forward with this greater awareness of what works.

Venus is the ruler of Libra and her aspects are especially significant at this time in describing the energy. As she moves through Gemini, communication, honesty and negotiation will be key under these aspects. There may be a lot of mistrust floating around, and it may be wise to wait till you have more information.

At the time of a Full Moon the Sun and Moon oppose each other in the sky; with the earth in the middle. Our bodies are made of 90% water, if the Moon can affect oceans, it is natural at the time of a Full Moon for emotions to swell like the tide.

Although we are past the Full Moon, the emotional intensity is still brimming over. If something or someone seems to be frustrating you, take a deep breath and count to 10 before you respond to any situation. Ultimately what one seeks is inner peace — then one can respond to life on life’s terms; fearlessly and with the curiosity of a child.

Cosmic Weather for April 2012

Dear Friends,

Life has demanded my attention these past few weeks since I’ve been in India. And I apologize for my absence on the Blog. But Mercury stations direct in Pisces in a few hours and Venus has just entered Gemini, so I’m hoping my writing will pick up as well.

Mercury’s direct station is bringing deep truths to the surface and more will be revealed by the light of the Libra Full Moon on April 7, 2012.

Where ever there is a sense of disillusionment or confusion, there can be greater clarity if we make the effort to peer beyond the veil of perception to get to the truth.

April may feel sticky with Mars in opposition to Neptune through the month; like we’re wading through mud. But as Mercury and Mars both change direction, slowly but surely, we are moving ahead. Cosmic Weather for April 2012

“Meanwhile Venus enters Gemini on April 3, 2012 preparing for her retrograde in May and a long stay in Gemini all the way into August. Venus is the goddess of beauty, love, creativity, sexual and sensual pleasures; she also represents values and how we relate in matters of money and the heart. This Venus transit through Gemini brings an emphasis on communication in relationships and it may also bring the classic struggle between the head and the heart.

On April 6, 2012, at the time of the Libra Full Moon, Venus (ruler of Libra) makes a host of aspects bringing relationships into focus. Cosmic Weather for March 2012

After all the recent strife, this month brings cosmic relief in the form of a rare alignment between Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Pluto in the form of a Grand Earth Trine. As much as things are changing and coming up for review this month, things are also stabilizing, bringing plenty of opportunities for sensual pleasure along the way.

As we enter March, the Sun is making its way through Pisces (the last sign of the zodiac) until March 20, 2012, when we reach the Equinox.  As we move through these final weeks of the Sun in Pisces, take the time to absorb the lessons of the past seasons. Then, when the Sun enters Aries (which heralds Spring in the northern hemisphere), we will enter a new year in the zodiac, marking a fresh start.

Also, this month brings plenty of activity among the personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars, suggesting that this is due to be a rather busy month on the personal front, as well. One of the first planetary and energetic shifts comes early in the month as Mercury enters Aries on Mar. 2, 2012 and moves toward its retrograde station. Mercury rules the mind, communication and our perceptions. Aries is the sign that represents action and what is possible, so this transit is encouraging us to think of bold new ideas and possibilities.

Mercury conjuncts Uranus on March 5, 2012, indicating that there is unexpected news in the offering. Something we never thought was possible might just be. But it will require an open mind to what is unfolding; don’t be too opinionated and make a rash judgement about a situation. Also, the aspect is encouraging us to push out of existing mental perceptions so that we can thoughtfully respond to circumstances instead of simply finding ourselves unconsciously triggered by or reacting to the issues that arise.

Through this month, communication is likely to be direct and blazing; Mercury in Aries won’t easily take no for an answer. But remember, Mercury is in shadow as we begin this month, and we will be covering this territory two more times. So this is a developing story, and there is definitely more to something than currently meets the eye.

This Virgo Full Moon will also be in close conjunction to Mars, and with Mercury slowing down to a halt at this time, there may be an increase of nervous energy and tension. The Full Moon may certainly be highlighting all that is less than desirable about various situations in our lives. But be grateful for this, because only with closer inspection can we truly begin to heal and fix something.

Mercury also stations retrograde on Mar. 12, 2012, shortly after the Virgo Full Moon on Mar. 8. Virgo is a sign ruled by Mercury, so there is a sense that what is being revealed at the time of the Full Moon is asking us to rethink and review our approach to a situation.

This may feel like a spanner being thrown in the works. What we may have felt sure of at the beginning of the month can now be causing deep self-doubt. But this is no reason to believe that everything is wrong or to lose faith in yourself. This is an important part of questioning oneself and being honest about what is not working, especially with our personal attitudes.

Mercury in Aries (especially retrograde) is a process of inner questioning, of learning to trust oneself more and asking the ever-important question, “Who am I?” The less we give attention to false identification, the more we can discover what is truly important in our world. Then, with a little closer inspection, we can make a more effective impact on a situation rather than going in with guns blazing and little thought or information.

Also, Mars is currently retrograde in Virgo, and with Mercury in Aries, the planets are now occupying each others’ signs in what is called a mutual reception. This suggests an interchangeable quality to this energy: remember that words can be used to hurt or to heal, and often hurtful words come from a place of defensiveness or an inner sense of woundedness. With self-awareness, the Mercury and Mars retrogrades offer the potential for deeper understanding,  improved communication, or to form plans in a way that is constructive instead of harboring a critical and ultimately self-defeating attitude.

Think before you speak and act. A thoughtful approach, especially in sensitive situations, could make all the difference in our ability to gain a deeper perspective of what we can do to fix or stabilize a situation that has seemed beyond repair or that has been tense and worrying.

As we begin the month, Venus is in Aries, where she has been since Feb. 8, 2012. Aries is not an easy placement for Venus (the goddess of love, beauty, creativity and finances).  Her naturally demure, feminine nature is tempered by the fiery quality of a Mars-ruled sign. Here, Venus often tends to act out in rather impatient and unladylike ways, which may have led to flared tempers, angry outbursts, increased worry or fears rising to the surface regarding financial situations and relationship matters.

Love may certainly not have been easy in February, and just before Venus leaves Aries, she will make an opposition to Saturn in Libra on March 4, 2012. Saturn has been in Libra since October 2009 and will remain in the sign until early October of this year, asking for a definitive restructuring and rebalancing of relationships in order to foster greater compromise and mutual support.

As Venus opposes Saturn, it may be easy to draw the battle lines with others, but this is ultimately dividing us where we need support. The scales of Libra need balance, and it will be helpful for us to integrate this aspect internally first. Rather than pointing fingers and blame, take responsibility for the situation that you have created and your own role within it. Once there is internal balance, we can correct imbalances of power within relationships and financial situations and bring to them the mutual support that we need.

On the following day March 5, 2012 (the day of the Mercury-Uranus conjunction), Venus enters Taurus, her home sign, where she is rather comfortable and fertile and where her best qualities are easy to access. With the Mercury-Uranus aspect taking place on the same day, this is a rather comforting shift in energy, suggesting that there may even be a few surprising declarations of love or sudden financial breakthroughs that will show us that things are more solid than we first thought.

Venus will remain in Taurus throughout March and until April 3, 2012. Over the coming four weeks, as she transits through her home sign, we are likely to see a slow but certain stabilization and growth in creativity, business and personal relationships, as well as in financial situations. Venus in Taurus is earthy, sensual, creative, fertile and grounded. Venus and Taurus also both represent  ’values’ — things, emotions and people we value, which are different for different people. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and the deeper we are willing to dig into our cores, the greater are the riches we can mine, both emotionally and materially.

As Venus moves through Taurus, she inches closer to her conjunction to Jupiter (both planets are visible in the evening skies right now and are certainly a beautiful sight to behold), which will be exact on March 14, 2012 — an aspect that can only be described as auspicious. Venus and Jupiter are two of the great benefics in the zodiac, and together their influence is greatly magnified. This can be a rather sensual, sexual, luxurious, perhaps even romantic time and definitely a time that bodes well for material stability. Jupiter and Venus will also be in a  triple conjunction to Black Moon Lilith, adding another subtle layer to this energy which could be rather sexual.

Taurus can also be a rather hedonistic sign, and it will certainly also be easy to indulge your appetite (of all kinds) under this climate. So if you are on a diet, you may want to watch what you eat. But then again, I am a Taurus, and you only live once, so you might as well enjoy yourself. It is possible to have too much of a good thing, but that’s something only you can decide for yourself. With Jupiter in Taurus, also remember that it is in giving that we can receive now, and we can certainly afford to be generous under these skies.

Taurus is also a reminder of patience, hard work and willingness to nurture that which we value. Anything worth having is worth waiting and working for. Money may be able to buy us nice things, but it certainly cannot buy us happiness or love, which comes from a deeper appreciation of the heart. Focus on quality rather than quantity, and there can indeed be a recognition of all that is golden and worth preserving in your world. In relationships especially, loyalty and forgiveness will be key: Taurus is one of the most committed signs and has an ability to appreciate all of life’s seasons equally.

Significantly, the Grand Earth Trine also aligns on the very same day as the Venus-Jupiter-Black Moon Lilith conjunction, making the energy especially potent and ripe for positive, solid changes and developments. Grand Trines occur when planets align at 120-degree angles to each other in three signs, forming the shape of a triangle in the sky. Astrologically, this alignment opens up an easy flow of energy between the planets and, depending on the element of the signs, we can get an idea of the feel and nature of this energy.

Earth signs are solid, grounded and, like the Earth, slower moving in nature. The change we now seek, even if it has seemed slow in coming, will be solid and will bring with it a feeling of longevity and permanence to the changes that are taking place. With a little effort, we can shift something and turn the tables with something that we might have feared would never be fixed. Ever since Mars stationed retrograde at the end of January, it may have seemed like we’ve been taking one step forward and two steps back, but no matter what has been worrying, tense or seemingly beyond repair, things can and are indeed stabilizing now.

Mars retrograde in Virgo and with Pluto in Capricorn also suggests that something needs to be uprooted and let go of first so that something more fruitful and fertile can take root. It’s like tending to a garden or farming, where it is necessary to uproot weeds and plough the land first to harvest a better crop and for healthier flowers to bloom. Pluto in Capricorn is a reminder to let go of tradition for tradition’s sake. The deeper we dig for our integrity in situations, the greater the gold we can mine.

It may be as simple as letting go of negative attitudes or expectations. Rather than looking at what is wrong, focus on what is positive in a situation and devote more energy to cultivating that. Things may never be perfect, and in truth there is no such thing as perfection. All that we can hope for is to enjoy each moment to its fullest. Look for constructive solutions while letting go of superficial values and of a desire to hold onto tradition for tradition’s sake. Also, recognize your unconscious motivations or ideas about success and security. There is more abundance here than there is any lack that we may have feared.

Next month, Mercury stations direct on April 5, 2012, which will bring us back to situations that first began to unfold in late February. Also, on April 13, 2012, Mars will station direct after a long retrograde station at the position it occupied in the sky in early November of last year.

All in all, the planets strongly suggest that there is plenty to look forward to this month. Take the time to stop and smell the roses. Do the inner work of healing, and have a little more trust in yourself. Use this time of the Sun in Pisces to really envision your dreams for your future.
